It is with deep sadness to have learned that Mr. Floyd’s long time Legal Assistant from Lake City, Evone Morris, was killed in an auto accident Friday night.

She was his first paralegal when he returned to work in Lake City with the Nettles Firm from Turkey in the USAF.

Please keep her family in your prayers. Mr. Floyd will attend her funeral Monday May 15th, 2023 at 4:00pm – at Northside Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

Everyone at The Floyd Law Firm is so saddened to hear about the passing of our beloved Evone.

She had a love for baking and making delicious cakes for all to enjoy. To know her was to love her, and she will be missed by many family members, friends, and former coworkers.

May she rest in peace and fly with the angels. Her beautiful soul will never be forgotten.

Evone Poston Morris, 81, wife of the late Iven Daniel Morris, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023.

Mrs. Morris was born in Florence County on June 22, 1941, daughter of the late James Dewey Poston and Pauline Collins Poston. She was a graduate of Hannah High School and worked as a Legal Assistant for Floyd Law Firm for many years. Mrs. Morris was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed baking and making people happy.

Surviving are her sons, Danny Morris and Ken (Judy) Morris, both of Lake City; grandchildren, Mike (Nicole) Morris of Timmonsville, Emily M. (Scott) Matthews, Jordan (Alanna) Morris, both of Lake City, Jarrett (Jeana) Morris of Pamplico; great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Matthews, Jase Matthews, Lizzie Matthews, Sawyer Morris, Porter Morris, Carter Morris, Peyton Morris, Adelyn Morris and Layla Morris; special friend, Annie Lee Gaskins.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Mona Morris; great grandchild, Anna Kate Matthews; sister, Pauline Devon Eaddy; brothers, Jarvis Douglas “Billy” Poston, James Janis Poston.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Monday, May 15, 2023, at Northside Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Monday, May 15, 2023, in the Northside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
